Should You Give Money To A Homeless Person?
If you live in seattle, chances are low that you haven’t ran into a homeless person asking for money whether it is in university district or virtually every freeway entrance/exit.
What they want is money… but is that what they need? Can you know if the individual really needs a dollar without taking time to find out? Could you be hurting the individual more if you do give them that dollar?
I believe this is a very important issue as we are asked for “spare change” at least once a week. Let’s get down to the bottom of this so you don’t have to feel bad anymore about what you decide to do.
What are your thoughts on this? Have you given money to a homeless person? Do you agree with giving them money?

I used to keep bottled water or juice boxes and granola bars in my car to hand out. I need to do it again. So often I see homeless people smoking cigarettes. I don’t want to pay for someone else’s bad habit. If you give a homeless person money will they use it for drugs or alcohol? We need to do something to help but we need to make sure we are helping and not just making the problem worse. Our church has a program called “Hoodies for the Homeless.” I need to get involved in that. Thanks for the reminder Peter.
